Wall card

I just this week painted a white board wall for Lily in her new room. This is the very first artwork she did on it. Pretty great, huh? She loves and misses you Mimi and Papa!
Also, just FYI, I was greatly blessed this week as I was able to have Lasik surgery to correct my vision. All went well and I am seeing 20/20, although my eyes are still terribly bloodshot and dry. But that will heal and I can already see the clock at night! I always tend to feel guilty though because I wish Jamie had been able to have the same surgery. Love you Jamie!

Home Depot Kids Club

Heather did me a solid, almost two years ago.

In May 2010, she called to tell me about the Home Depot Kids Club. The first saturday of every month, kids 12 and under can come do a build-it project. Home Depot supplies all the materials for free, including an apron, the kit, tools and even the paint! Once finished, the child received a pin for their apron with a picture of the project they completed. Lily now has about 15 pins.
We have built flower pots, race cars, a model helicopter, napkin holders, etc.
It has become one of Lily and my favorite things to do together.

Casualties of moving.

Last month, I got sloppy. I was unhitching my in-laws trailer from the truck, but had forgotten to block the wheels. Sure enough, the trailer started rolling forward. Since I didn't want the truck to get scratched, I foolishly thought I could stop the trailer with my hand. Instead, the hitch smashed my hand against the truck bed, tearing through my palm. I had to have stitches & wear a brace for the past 3 weeks, but my hand seems to be healing fine.

Lily flying!

Lily's birthday

Sorry for the mega-download of photos today. I just had a window of time so I went for it!
Lily was royally spoiled for her 11th birthday! She had a family dinner at her favorite restaurant (Sweet Tomatoes), a friend party at Classic Fun Center (skating, bounce house, laser tag, jungle climb, etc.) and then she had a special day at the Solomon Center in Ogden. She got to fly, surf, climb and play arcade games! It might have been a wee bit of overkill, but we had a grand time with her!

Zoo lights with the Kirkhams

We had so much fun with Shelby while she was here - one thing we enjoyed was Zoo lights. We froze, but it was still a great new tradition.
